Todd, Julie Chrisley want Judge Eleanor Ross impeached
(NewsNation) — Todd and Julie Chrisley are determined to see Atlanta Federal Judge Eleanor Ross impeached following a sex scandal in which she was reportedly involved.
The U.S. Department of Justice is asking a judge to recuse herself in a fight over Georgia election records, arguing that she attended an event honoring Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who prosecuted President Donald Trump, raising questions about the judge’s ability to be impartial.
A federal judge in 11th Judicial Circuit received a “private reprimand” after a court investigation found that the judge had sex in the courthouse with a high-ranking uniformed police officer within earshot of staff, attended a partisan event and then initially lied to deny the allegations.
The court’s investigation did not publicly identify the judge. The Justice Department is relying on media reports that identify U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross in Atlanta as the judge in question.
After serving time for bank fraud and tax evasion, the reality TV stars were pardoned by President Donald Trump in May after beginning their prison sentences in January 2023. The couple starred on USA Network’s “Chrisley Knows Best” alongside their children Savannah, Chase and Grayson, and Todd’s mother, “Nanny” Faye, from 2014 to 2023.
Ross indicted the Chrisleys on 12 counts of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States in 2019. Prosecutors accused the Chrisleys of evading nearly $2 million in state taxes from 2008 to 2016 and hiding over $1 million from the IRS, according to E! News.
“When you are placed in a position that a judge is placed in, like Judge Ross, you are holding in your hands a family’s life, their freedom,” Todd Chrisley told “Katie Pavlich Tonight.”
“When you’re going to judge these people that’s coming in front of you, you should certainly hold yourself to a higher standard than what she has. This is a woman who’s married to another judge, Judge Brian Ross, who was having an affair, a multiyear affair, clerks reporting about her misconduct of having sex in her chambers,” he added.
Todd Chrisley denied that he and Julie evaded taxes shortly after the indictment, saying that a former employee had stolen from his family, creating “phony documents” and forged their signatures years ago, People reported at the time.
“I have committed myself and to my family that I will follow through with this, and with our legal team, that we will work with Congress to have her impeached. And that is what so many people are asking for today, along with the Department of Justice…” Todd Chrisley said.
In 2022, Todd and Julie were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison for conspiring to defraud Atlanta-area banks out of more than $30 million in loans by submitting false documents and tax evasion.
“She kept reiterating that, you know, I had to suffer the consequences of my actions,” Julie Chrisley told NewsNation.
“I truly feel like, you know, you’ve got to practice what you preach. She was the first to say to us on multiple occasions, ‘You have to do the right thing.’”
