Days of Our Lives Drama: THEY’RE BACK! 2 SHOCKING Cast Returns That Nobody Saw Coming
Leave it to Theo to cut right to the heart of the matter with Lexie’s resurrection on Days of Our Lives. As he talked through his feelings with a gob smacked Marlena (bet she wasn’t expecting that when she woke up this morning), Theo asked one simple question about his mom.
“I can’t help but think, if she comes back, will she be the same?” And he has an excellent point! We’ve been working off the assumption that this won’t be a permanent resurrection. Something will go wrong and the Carvers will have to face the tragedy of losing Lexie all over again. But we’ve been thinking it would be something physical — not mental.
But what if Lexie comes back different? What if she comes back darker? Maybe her mind wasn’t preserved as well as her body. Maybe the treatment does something to her.
What if, as in Pet Sematary, she comes back wrong. We’ve got to give credit to Redditor u/Key_Roll_7079 for dropping the idea and wondering if “Lexie will end up like Gage in Pet [Sematary].”
Of course, we didn’t really think too much of the possibility of Lexie being dangerously different until Days of Our Lives had Theo muse over the possibility of his mom coming back different in therapy.
For those who didn’t read the Stephen King book or watch the movie(s), it’s a tale about bringing the dead back to life. And let’s just say it’s not a good tale. Gage, the adorable toddler, came back to life with very deadly intentions.
To be clear, we don’t think she’d be a soulless, murderous monster like poor little Gage (If there’s anything we learned from Bo, Marlena, Kate and Kayla, souls can return to bodies in Salem!), but she could come back a lot darker and more in touch with her DiMera roots. And she could go gunning for Paulina to get what she wants.
Yes, we went through this with Bo, but that was something temporary. Megan brainwashed his emotions out of him. Lexie’s coming back with her emotions running full force. As Nikki Crawford teased of Lexie this time around, she’s coming back roaring, fighting for what she loves. “[Lexie] may come in with love,” she shared, “but she’s not coming in quietly.”
How hard she fights and how dirty it gets could depend on how different she is when she comes back. EJ and Kristen both fight for what they love, and neither of them are afraid to kill for it. Nor was their father, Stefano. And unlike with Bo, Lexie’s change could be something that can’t be fixed. And it could be something that eventually leads to her death once again. Maybe it would even be enough for EJ to decide he had to abandon the treatment.
One way or another, we just can not shake the feeling that this return we’ve been building to is going to go horribly wrong. And EJ will have once again left nothing but wreckage in his wake. Let’s just hope it stops just short of going Pet Sematary wrong!
