End of an Iconic Era: Suzanne Rogers RETIRES From Maggie Role At 83 After Decades Onscreen
Is Peacock’s Days of Our Lives poised to lose one of its longest-running cast members/characters?
Apparently, that question has been thrust in front of fans of the nearly 60-year-old sudser, in the form of alarmist “news” stories shared by sketchy Facebook accounts and the like, claiming that Suzanne Rogers, 82, is leaving the role of Maggie Horton after a 52-year run.

An official spokesperson for Days, though — in an atypical instance of addressing an online rumor — says that the speculative reports “could not be further from the truth.
“Maggie and Suzanne are integral to the show’s history, present storylines, and now, on the heels of our [two-season] pick-up, the future!” the rep told SoapOperaDigest.com. “Neither are going anywhere.”
Rogers began her career at the age of 17 when she left her hometown of Colonial Heights, Va., to join the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.
She moved to Los Angeles in 1973 and joined the cast of Days of our Lives that July. Six years later, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress, for her portrayal of Maggie Horton.
Days was renewed for Seasons 62 and 63 just last week, after amassing 13 nominations for this year’s Daytime Emmys. The long-running soap is up for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Directing, while individual acting nods went to Eric Martsolf (who plays Brady Black), Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark), Paul Telfer (Xander Kiriakis), Blake Berris (Everett Lynch), Linsey Godfrey (Sarah Horton), Emily O’Brien (Theresa Donovan), AnnaLynne McCord (Cat Greene), and Ashley Puzemis (Holly Jonas).
Days of Our Lives spoilers suggest there have been rumors circulating that Suzanne Rogers, who plays Maggie Kiriakis, could be retiring.
At the age of 82, it wouldn’t be overly shocking if the actress wanted to leave the hectic filming schedule of the soap behind, as she’s created an incredible legacy over the years!
With that said, a recent report helps clear the air on Rogers, retirement, and Maggie’s future with the show.

Maggie Kiriakis’ Vacay Away
The buzz began some weeks ago when Maggie was slated to go on a girls’ trip with her daughter, Sarah Horton Kiriakis (Linsey Godfrey), but Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) nixed the idea of the mother-daughter duo taking Victoria Kiriakis (Amelia and Kennedy Hileman).
A Days spokesperson reached out to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) to address the retirement rumors.
In a statement, the DOOL rep stated these rumors were the furthest from the truth, noting both Suzanne and Maggie are key to the daytime drama’s present storylines, its history, “… and now, on the heels of our pick-up, the future! Neither are going anywhere.”
Maggie’s History In Salem
Days of Our Lives spoilers remind fans that Maggie Horton Kiriakis has been in the land of Salem for over five decades, starting her run in 1973. She is currently the longest-running character on DOOL, and the longest-running actor in U.S. soap history.
In 1979, Rogers won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress category, a true testimony to the talent the actress brings to her Maggie role on Days.
While Rogers has spent most of her acting career in the land of Salem, as Maggie has played a key role in storylines since the day she entered the canvas, Suzanne has also dabbled in other acting projects over the years.
In the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, she appeared in primetime hits like Quincy, M.E., Little House on the Prairie, and Knight Rider.
