It can be tough to say goodbye, especially after decades upon decades of knowing someone. That’s something the folks over at General Hospital have had to contend with a lot these past few years, and now they’re gearing up for one more huge farewell in the new one. Because while Tristan Rogers passed away this past summer, Robert Scorpio is still off living the good life with Sasha, Holly and his grandbaby.
We thought that perhaps Anna’s current tale of woe would give the show the chance to write him a heroic farewell, but it seems the show is still working out the details of how to say goodbye.
Since the character hasn’t passed away on screen, writers are working on a story to weave into the show later in 2026 for a proper send off. After General Hospital aired a tribute to Anthony Geary (whose Luke had already died years ago offscreen), a fan asked ABC executive director of programming Nathan Varni if they’d aired a dedication for Rogers.
Not yet. But, he noted, “Since the character hasn’t passed away on screen, writers are working on a story to weave into the show later in 2026 for a proper send off.”
While that doesn’t give us a firm timeline, it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit to see Robert’s final storyline, as the writers are still working out the details. There still may be a chance that it could weave into Anna, Sidwell and (potentially) Faison, of course, as we can’t imagine a “proper” send off for Robert not involving some kind of heroics.

One thing we do know, though, is that whatever Robert does, we sadly won’t be seeing Rogers on our screens again. But that doesn’t mean he won’t get one heck of a send off! What are your thoughts? How would you like to see General Hospital handle his final storyline? Would you want them to go big or give him a peaceful farewell?
