General Hospital Comings & Goings: Kelly Kruger is the New Serena Baldwin!
General Hospital is bringing Serena Baldwin home to Port Charles! The character, who was born on screen in 1993, will now be played by Kelly Kruger, who played Mackenzie Browning on The Young and the Restless and Forrester International publicist Eva on The Bold and the Beautiful.

TVInsider broke the casting news, with Kruger telling the outlet that she was “honored” to be taking over the role and thrilled to be joining the GH ranks. “I have always wanted to work with the actors and writers on this show,” she said. “I truly believe the level of talent and work they put out is the absolute best.”
Kruger made her soap debut on Y&R in 2002, exiting the following year but returning for visits in 2018 and 2019. She intermittently played Eva on B&B beginning in 2014, last appearing in 2021. The actress has also worked extensively in prime-time, appearing on shows like Castle, Entourage, The Bold Type and Blue Mountain State and in Hallmark movies like A Very Corgi Christmas.
It was on Blue Mountain State that the actress met her longtime partner, Darin Brooks, who recently returned to B&B as Wyatt. After 16 years together and nearly 10 years of marriage, they announced in March that they had filed for divorce. Brooks and Kruger share two daughters, Everleigh and Gemma.
In addition to her acting work, Kruger is a beauty and wellness influencer with a robust following on Instagram and TikTok.
As longtime GH watchers know, Serena is the biological daughter of Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and his late wife, Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson). When Dominique was diagnosed with a fatal brain tumor, Lucy volunteered to be a surrogate for the couple and gave birth to Serena shortly after Dom’s passing. Scott soon left town with his daughter, but the duo returned to town as anchors of the GH spinoff Port Charles, which aired from 1997-2003.
On that show, Serena was played by child actress Carly Schroeder, and Schroeder briefly reprised the role on GH in 2017 when the show scripted the passing of Scott’s father and Serena’s grandfather, Lee Baldwin (Peter Hansen). The adult version of Serena has been established as a passionate crusader for the environment, with Scotty taking off to the Faroe Islands in 2022 when Serena was arrested after tussling with dolphin hunters.
While Shriner’s Scotty has not been seen on screen since 2024, Serena’s surrogate mother, Herring’s Lucy, is still in the thick of things on the show.
Since Serena’s last appearance nearly nine years ago, she has gained a new half sibling: Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), who is Dom’s son by Mac Scorpio (John J. York).
