“This summer, I have been taking a break from the family,” Anna, 25, told producers in the sneak peek scene. “So I have not seen my family for about two and a half months.”

When a producer asked, ‘What events, do you think, led to this boiling-over point?’ Anna explained, “The starting issue that led to not seeing my family for this amount of time was the graduation gown.”

She continued, “My parents got mad at me because I took Jonah‘s graduation gown, and I didn’t tell them. And they got mad because I didn’t take graduation photos with them.

It just kept getting worse and worse, which led to me not even wanting to come around.”

Additionally, Anna said she did not attend the high school graduation ceremony of her two younger siblings, Emma and Alex.

“I look back and I regret it now, but it was the fact that nobody spoke to me since then. So why show up and come in and act like everything’s fine?”

In a different sit-down with producers, Trent and Amber shared their side of the story.

“So we had all of these issues around graduation. But actually, where it really started was a few months before that,” Trent said.”

He added, “Anna was supposed to be giving an underage girl a ride back to our home. And instead, she took her out to a bar, bought her alcohol, got her intoxicated. And then when she gets caught and she gets in trouble, she’s mad at us.”

Still, Anna maintained that it wasn’t the root of the rift with her parents.

“When that incident happened, I was still coming around the family. I thought we squashed it. I thought we worked it out,” she shared. “But then, they decided they wanted to get mad at me, and so they brought that back up.”

Will Anna and her parents be able to work through their ongoing relationship issues? Fans will have to tune in to find out.

Catch the Season 16 premiere of 7 Little Johnstons on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 10 p.m. ET on TLC and streaming on HBO Max the next day.
