Why Chase Chrisley Says Savannah Chrisley Had “Every Right” to Be “Mad” at His Drinking

Chase Chrisley can admit when others know best. The Chrisley Knows Best alum addressed the rift between him and his sister Savannah Chrisley amid his struggles with alcohol, conceding that the 28-year-old’s frustration with him was warranted.

“She had every right to be upset with me and be mad,” Chase, 29, told his parents Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley on the Oct. 29 episode of their Chrisley Confessions podcast. “Savannah can hold a grudge though. She can hold a grudge.”

While Julie—who was imprisoned on tax evasion charges, as was her husband, before they were both pardoned earlier this year—noted that “everybody processes pain differently,” Chase argued that Savannah had more productive coping mechanisms.

“She was also in therapy,” he explained. “My therapy was going out and drinking and I would never talk about how I felt, would never talk about my emotions. Eventually you bottle that up.”

“Savannah will talk about her emotions,” Chase continued. “But it was really hard for me to do that up until six months ago.”

Indeed, on The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, Savannah detailed the deterioration of her bond with her brother, explaining that she had been “warning Chase for years” to address his drinking before he wound up in an altercation at an Atlanta bar in January.

“I have tried to help him before he got arrested. I had set up for him to go to a treatment facility,” she said on the show in September. “I had already bought him a plane ticket. We had already gone through the whole intake process, and then he told me to ‘go f–k’ myself.”

Despite his initial resistance, Chase did eventually check himself into rehab, where he took steps to make amends with Savannah.

“What I can do is show up for you now and in the future, because I can’t go back and change anything,” he told his sister through tears during a Zoom call. “But I’m sorry, Savannah, and I love you.”

The Unlocked podcast host accepted her brother’s apology, assuring him she would always be there for him.

“You’ve always had so much potential, if you just let yourself fall into and work for it,” she responded, “and I’m proud of you.”
