Kyle Chrisley, “Chrisley Knows Best” star Todd Chrisley’s son, is accused of assaulting law enforcement officers and resisting arrest in Tennessee. The incident follows other arrests for assault.

Kyle Chrisley, “Chrisley Knows Best” star Todd Chrisley’s eldest son, has been arrested on assault charges.
Kyle Chrisley was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention in Tennessee on Saturday, Dec. 20. He faces criminal charges of domestic assault, assault of law enforcement officers, public intoxication, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct following an alleged incident that day, according to county court records reviewed by USA TODAY.
Details about the arrest were not immediately available. Chrisley is due in court for a hearing on Jan. 27.
USA TODAY has reached out to Chrisley’s lawyers and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office for comment
Chrisley, who appeared in two episodes of “Chrisley Knows Best” Season 1 in 2014, is Todd Chrisley’s son with first wife Teresa Terry. They also share daughter Lindsie, 36.
Kyle Chrisley was previously arrested for alleged aggravated assault
Kyle Chrisley has had several run-ins with the law over the years, with his most recent arrest taking place in September 2024 over an alleged aggravated assault, a felony, as well as resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
The next court date in this case is Feb. 26.
He and his wife, Ashleigh Chrisley, sued Rutherford County deputies for damages over the incident, alleging false arrest and excessive force, according to an Aug. 18 complaint in Tennessee federal court that was obtained by USA TODAY
According to deputies, Kyle Chrisley “grabbed a knife out of his toolbox in the garage and attempted to stab” a mechanic who’d come to his home and suffered from a cut to his arm, which Chrisley denied.
According to the couple, Kyle Chrisley was a victim of “a frightening confrontation” and acting out of “self defense” when he was arrested. They claimed “a disgruntled mechanic, angry over a payment dispute,” kicked at the doors of their Murfreesboro home, slammed into the couple’s SUV and “nearly” ran over him in front of their neighbors.
The mechanic told deputies that he’d hit the Chrisleys’ car while attempting to flee the altercation.
“This case is about a family terrorized in their own home and then punished for calling for help,” the lawsuit stated. It also alleged Chrisley “did not use force against the officers during the arrest.”
A deputy’s affidavit for a warrant, included in the lawsuit, alleged that Chrisley “refused and tensed up, holding his arms in front of his body attempting to not be placed into custody. Deputies had to place Kyle on the ground and place his hands behind his back to place him into custody due to him resisting arrest.”
Proceedings in the case have been paused pending resolution of the criminal case against Chrisley.
In March 2024, Chrisley was arrested on suspicion of another aggravated assault, according to Rutherford County court records.
