Mariah Breaks Down After Being Taken Into Custody — a Tearful Tessa Makes a Difficult Decision

Today on The Young and the Restless, Sharon makes contact with Mariah, Dom is reunited with his parents, and Tessa chooses Daniel.

Daniel finds Tessa worrying in Crimson Lights, and she tells him the police may know where Mariah is now. Once he’s in the loop, he asks why Tessa didn’t go with Devon and Abby. She didn’t think she could face Mariah. She’s so angry at her, but she also knows how much she must be struggling to have done this. Daniel worries that she feels guilty about him.

Tessa owns what she’s done. She couldn’t take Mariah’s rejection anymore, she couldn’t take the look on Aria’s face when her mom didn’t call, and she couldn’t deny her feelings for him anymore.

Tessa ruminates: Whatever she does, she’s being unfair to someone. Daniel tells her not to worry about him. Tessa insists she doesn’t feel bad. Mariah kept her in limbo for so long. “I can’t wait anymore.” Daniel asks if she’s ready to explain this to her wife. Tessa says Mariah wouldn’t let her in. She has no regrets.

Daniel asks what Tessa will do once Mariah comes back to town. She wants to cross that bridge when they get to it. She’s not sure what will happen, but Mariah will need a lot of support. Daniel thinks she should be part of that. Tessa fears she might go to prison.

Finding Mariah

On their jet, Devon, Abby, and Sharon are over the “plains” talking about Dom. Abby has updated her mom, who is staying in Paris, but will come if she needs her. They tactfully address the issue of Mariah, who is clearly not well and needs special care.

Burrow updates them that the police have a better description of Mariah’s car. Devon thinks they’re closing in unless she changes course. Burrow assures them this could be over very soon. It’s not long before he tells them the car’s been spotted in New Mexico. Abby and Sharon aren’t fans of letting the police on the ground handle the takedown, so it’s decided that they’ll land and Sharon will be first to approach.

Dom vs. Mariah

In the car, Mariah chats away to Dom, who informs her this isn’t fun anymore and his name’s not Bowie. Mariah tries singing, but the kid isn’t having it. The Devon in him comes out as he refuses to play games and demands to go home.

Mariah tells Dom she’s loved their time together. When he presses her to go home, she lies that his parents don’t want him there right now. She cajoles that this game is supposed to be fun. Once they get to Mexico, he’ll love it. She slips and calls it his “new home,” which takes him off guard.

Dom starts yelling at her about wanting to go home. He misses his toys and wants to talk to his parents. “Can you call them?” He grabs her phone and she snatches it away. Dom hollers, “You’re being mean! Why are you doing this?!” Mariah wonders where Ian is when she needs him most.

Pulling the car over, Mariah tells a frowning Dom that she knows it’s been a long trip, but she wants to get back to the fun they were having. Frustrated by his silence, she shouts at him to please show her a little appreciation. They go head-to-head as he demands to go home… now! Mariah becomes more frantic as the kid demands she call his mom and finally informs him they can’t ever go home again.

The Wrap Up

On the jet, Burrow reports that the Feds have located Mariah’s car. Abby and Devon ask if Sharon is ready to face Mariah. She admits that she’s afraid, but she doesn’t want her swarmed. Burrow assures her the police will be nearby. They walk off the jet.

In the car, Mariah starts talking to Dom about how her love grew for him when he was in her belly, and goes on about them having a bond no one can break. “You must feel it. You have to.” Crying, she promises to be the best mommy in the world to him.

As Mariah goes on about how Dom wanting to go back to Abby breaks her heart, she realizes he’s fallen asleep. “I’m your mom and you’re my son. I know you’ll forgive me.”

Mariah talks to herself about “following the path.” They can have the life Ian said they could. Suddenly, the passenger door opens. Mariah says, “You came.” Sharon gets in and gently greets Mariah. Dom wakes up as Sharon tells her daughter not to be afraid.

Turning to the backseat, Sharon tells Dom she came with his parents, who can’t wait to see him. The boy reunites with Abby and Devon on the side of the road.

Back on the jet, Dom tells his parents that Mariah told him they were playing hide and seek. She told him they were going on an adventure to another country. They realize she was planning to take him to Mexico. Dom reports that Mariah’s feelings were hurt that he didn’t want to go. They’re glad he spoke up and sorry she didn’t listen to him. Dom says he dreamed about Papa, who may be watching over him from heaven.

In Genoa City, Tessa and Daniel speculate about what will become of Mariah. Suddenly, she gets a call from Devon, who tells her Mariah’s in custody and Sharon is with her. Dom is shaken up, but fine. Disconnecting, Tessa tearfully fills in Daniel, rushing into his arms. Tessa’s relieved. She cares about Mariah and wants her to get help but, “I need to let her go.” She has to move on.

In the car, Burrow drives Sharon and Mariah to the station. He explains to Mariah that she’ll be returned to Genoa city to face kidnapping charges and will be treated with respect. Sharon thanks him.

In the backseat, Mariah asks Sharon why she came. Sharon says that’s what mother’s do. When their babies are lost, they come and find them. Nothing she could ever do will change her love. They’ll get her through this and help will be there.

On the jet, Dom tells his parents that when he was in Mariah’s tummy, she named him Bowie. When he got mad at her, he told her that’s not his name. They assure the kid he didn’t do anything wrong. Devon explains that Mariah isn’t feeling well and has gone to see a doctor. Dom declares that Sharon found him, so she wins hide and seek.

In the car, Sharon holds Mariah as she sobs.
