  • Something sinister is brewing with Dr. Markham.

Diane Wakes Up in a Strange House

Diane (Susan Walters, who reacted to Jere Burns joining Y&R) found herself disoriented and confused in a house that wasn’t hers. She staggered into the living room and called out to see if anyone was there. She realized that the doors and windows were locked.

Diane also had no way of contacting the outside world. She didn’t have her phone on her, and the house didn’t have a landline phone. Diane was shocked to see books written by Dr. Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins), the psychiatrist who helped treat Ashley (Eileen Davidson).

Alan’s evil twin brother, Martin, assumed his identity and tried to kill the Abbotts. But Diane didn’t come face-to-face with Dr. Alan Laurent. The front door opened, and Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns) entered. He claimed that Diane was doing better than she had been in the previous state.

Back in Genoa City, Patty (Stacy Haiduk) told Jack (Peter Bergman) that Diane was in excellent hands, as he helped treat her mental breakdown. However, Patty might not have the control she thinks she does, and Dr. Laurence could be more dangerous than expected.

Who is Dr. Laurence Markham?

Questions have arisen about Dr. Laurence and whether he is a disguise for Martin. His sudden appearance in Diane’s abduction and ties to Patty even have Y&R viewers wondering if he’s involved in a darker scheme.

Fans have noticed similarities between Dr. Laurence and the Laurent twins. Some noted that Patty previously underwent plastic surgery to resemble her doctor in the past.

A new theory suggests that Marin might’ve altered his appearance and assumed Dr. Markham’s identity to advance his twisted agenda. Y&R could’ve casually dropped a clue when Dr. Markham bumped into Traci (Beth Maitland, who proved Traci is needed full-time) back at Genoa City.

Traci told Jack that there was something dark and sinister about him. She could be onto something. Is there something sinister going on with Patty and Dr. Laurence? Or will Dr. Laurence go rogue and take Diane down with him in an effort to get back at the Abbotts?
