Very Sad News: Todd Chrisley Faces Backlash for Criticizing Wife Julie’s Natural Brown Hair!

The Chrisley family has once again found itself at the center of a heated public debate. This time, however, the controversy didn’t stem from legal drama or reality-TV feuds.

Instead, it was sparked by a brief but controversial remark from Chrisley Knows Best patriarch Todd Chrisley about his wife Julie’s natural brown hair. What Todd initially described as an honest and harmless comment quickly exploded into a viral moment, igniting backlash from fans and sparking a broader conversation about beauty standards, marriage dynamics, and the scrutiny faced by reality television personalities.

A Simple Comment That Sparked a Storm

The controversy began during a promotional interview for the family’s new Lifetime series, “The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.” Todd Chrisley appeared alongside his wife Julie and daughter Savannah as they discussed their lives following their release from prison.

Todd, now 57, and Julie, 52, returned home on May 28 after receiving a presidential pardon from Donald Trump following their sentences related to fraud and tax evasion charges. Their emotional reunion with family members has since become one of the central storylines of their latest television project.

But during the conversation, the topic unexpectedly shifted to Julie’s appearance when she first returned home.

After nearly three decades of maintaining her signature blonde hairstyle, Julie had embraced her natural brunette hair while in prison. The change was noticeable and symbolic — a reflection of the stripped-down lifestyle she experienced during incarceration.

Todd admitted he was caught off guard when he first saw her.

“I caught a lot of flack for saying I didn’t like it,” Todd said during the interview, acknowledging the wave of criticism he faced online after his remarks about Julie’s hair went viral.

While many fans praised Julie’s natural look as refreshing and authentic, Todd’s reaction quickly became a lightning rod for debate.

The Moment That Went Viral

The backlash intensified after Todd discussed the moment in greater detail on the family’s podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0. In that episode, he joked about seeing Julie for the first time after their release.

“When I got out of the car and saw you, I started thinking about going back to prison,” Todd said with his signature dramatic humor. “But then I thought, let me embrace this.”

Although the remark was intended as a playful exaggeration, it did not land well with many listeners.

Social media erupted with criticism, with some fans accusing Todd of being insensitive toward Julie’s natural appearance after such a difficult chapter in her life. Others argued that the comment reinforced unrealistic expectations placed on women’s appearances.

Within hours, online discussions about the remark began trending across multiple platforms.

Julie Responds With Grace

Interestingly, Julie herself seemed far less bothered by the situation than many viewers.

In fact, during the same podcast conversation, she gently pushed back against Todd’s comment but did so with humor rather than anger.

“That wasn’t very nice,” Julie told him at the time, noting that he had jokingly said her new look “set the bar low.”

Despite the playful disagreement, Julie explained that she had already planned to return to her classic blonde hair once she regained access to her stylist.

“My stylist Tyler Bishop was waiting and ready for me,” she said with a laugh. “So I kind of always knew I was going to go back.”

Still, the process of returning to blonde wasn’t exactly glamorous.

According to Todd, the transformation became something of a family project.

“Tyler literally took up shop in our kitchen,” Todd recalled. “It was a whole operation.”
